As it has been confirmed that the EU council has approved this increase in visa fee for schengen visa, these charges are to be paid by the applicant who apply from the January 1^st of 2020.

According to this decision the visa fee for schengen visa is supposed to get a hike of 33.3%. This increase took the schengen visa cost to EURO 80 from 60.

The press release revealed- “To ensure member states can better cover the costs of visa processing without constituting a deterrent for visa applicants, the visa fee will be increased to 80 euros. The regulation also introduces a mechanism  for reviewing every three years whether the visa fee should change.”

After this approval from EU council, this rule will now be seen in the Official Journal of the EU. And from the 1^st day of January of the year 2020, this law will be enacted on the third country nationals who seek t enter the schengen borders with a schengen visa.

There are also some amendments that were advised in the previous year to make the traveling comfortable for the frequent visitors.

The new regulations are inclusive of the following:

• Applications for your trips due for about 6 months are also accepted by the embassy now but till 15 days before the trip.
• The Maximum days for which you can stay in the schengen has been 90 days.
• A friendlier approach by the council is the issuance of the multiple entry visas depending upon the previous visa record of the traveler for a span that starts from 1 year and simultaneously will increase up to 5 years.
• It also promotes the readmission for third countries. The mechanism behind this is to use Visa issuance as a pull. Countries to provide full cooperation will be benefitted with increase in visa validity period for multiple entry visas.
