History of the Fire Festival
Originally, the festival was a pagan ritual in which carpenters burned discarded pieces of wood. But as time progressed, Fallas (figurines) were incorporated into the event & the best ones were awarded. Today around 700 types of figurines are made.
In 2017, UNESCO recognized this event & gave it the tag of “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”.
